Job Description

Responsibility

  • To ensure that all equipment and materials are used in the safest possible way at all times.
  • Maintain the laboratory in a tidy and well-organized manner, to meet the requirements of 5S, and ensure efficient day to day operation.
  • To carry out Paint Testing work, ensuring both quality of test projects, and timely data reporting to the Test Lab Supervisor.
  • Carry out test after production as required.
  • Carry out color matching tests as required
  • Cementous based products tests as required
  • To plan day to day workflows through the laboratory, connected to the appropriate allocated projects.
  • To familiarize with OEM specifications and their required test methods, and FCS recording systems for test results. To correctly carry out required tests after review of appropriate documentation.
  • To familiarize with the main Analytical Testing methods and equipment, carrying out analytical work as and when required by the Test Lab Supervisor.
  • To undertake training as may be determined by the Test Lab Supervisor.
  • To assist as appropriate with the maintenance and calibration of equipment resources in the laboratory, as laid down in the planned schedule.
  • Work closely with colleagues in R&D teams, ensuring that new products are tested to appropriate industry specifications and methods.

Job Context

  • The job requires in-depth knowledge of paint testing, including the methods
used, equipment and systems. The job will involve both a day–to-day
processing of workflows through the laboratory, as part of a team having a
key role in supporting the company as it moves into a new phase in its
history.
  • The job holder will actively develop the team to ensure their complete
capability for paint performance testing. Job flexibility will be developed in
order to ensure appropriate support to other roles at any time in the
laboratory
  • The job holder will work closely with team members on both Paint Testing
and Analytical projects on a day-to-day basis, and play a role in shaping
the successful progress of the lab into the future.
  • The Test Lab functions on a team basis using quality metrics and with a focus
both on workflow and resources.The job holder must have enthusiasm for the task in hand and a willingness
to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines.
  • The job holder will work in a safe and responsible manner. They will wear
and use correct personal protective equipment where and when laid down
by the company and will follow company health and safety and
environmental procedures and reporting guidelines.
  • The job holder will be expected to help with other work within the Department as and when required.
  • The job holder will also be required to train on any computer software as designated by the company.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • The job holder will ideally have industrial coatings experience.
  • The job holder will hold basic numeracy and literacy qualifications.
  • The job holder will have a good level of IT literacy with the ability to use MS Word
    & Excel. (Or) The job holder will be able to use MS office including Outlook, Word
    & Excel.
  • The job holder will have a good level of scientific and mathematical ability, and
    problem solving skills.
