    10 WAYS YOUR BEHAVIOR AFFECTS PERFORMANCE

    People have different moods at the workplace, you need to study the behavioral pattern of people to be able to fit in so it does not affect productivity. Certain human traits can affect an employee's job performance and it is more difficult to determine whether an employee's good day means he/she will perform well or not.

    There is evidence to support that, certain behavior greatly affects productivity and the host of many aspects of your performance at work. So, how does your behavior influence others around you in areas such as morale, communication, and most importantly how does your behavior impact your performance? 

    This article will attempt to highlight some of such behaviors that affect one’s performance: 

    1. Disorganized and Unfocused
    When you are disorganized and disoriented from the main focus of the purpose of the space you occupy. You create an event that takes a toll on the other team members who are in the same place as you.

    Your mood at work affects your output. Some employers make an extra effort to create an enabling environment for their workers to ensure maximum productivity can be achieved.  

    2. Insubordination 

    The principles  and respect which hold any  institution lie in the power it supersedes. Any  action that seems to undermine the very  authority or actively goes against the goals of the  organization from  any employee creates an environment of gross indiscipline.

    This  behavior greatly  affects how  you relate to your  superiors. In any workplace  when other  employees witness  insubordination, they  may recognize  a diminishing  authority of  the institution  and possibly  will
    push  boundaries  themselves. This  generally  results in disciplinary  actions and  causes obvious distress among  other employees.  

    3. Poor Work Ethic 
    Showing a lack of commitment towards work is behavior that dampens the spirit of the other employees, who show up early and put in their effort to meet targets. As an employee, you should be able to align your performance to your employer’s expectations.

    You need to understand what your employer’s expectations are, try to tailor your actions accordingly to prove you deserve the space you occupy.

    Resistant To Change 
    With the fast pace the world is changing, there is a need for employees to abreast and acquaint themselves with the trends of how things are moving to enable them to keep their job. Change is an inevitable event in any organization, it’s a crucial part of personal and professional growth. But, if as an employee you are not open to these changes; either you are resisting or an outright refusal to change, then there is a possibility your behavior is going the affect performance. 

    5. Not Responsive To Coaching 
    Some employers are simply impervious to coaching, criticism, and feedback in their place of work. These kinds of employers who refuse to listen and accept feedbacks don’t see any improvement in their works because they fail to implement the recommended improvements to their jobs. This is done to boost job performance, you need to get a clear idea of what your employer’s measures as a success. 

    6. Never Takes Responsibility 
    Owing to your responsibilities is a trait of any good employee but those who fail to take responsibility for their actions are more likely to blame others around for their poor outcomes.  A popular manager, Mr. Brown says. ”If you make mistakes, don’t make excuses” this boils down to the employee’s assuming credibility. If you repeatedly fail to take responsibility for your actions, you don’t blame others for your inactions

    Poor Performance On The Job 
    Employees need to show results, underperforming on the job retrogresses the progress of any business. Employers want to see the work done and done well, producing a sub-par work which fails to meet employer expectation is a spirit damper. This behavior is possibly going to affect those around, other employees are more likely to pick up the slack and forced to catch up with the existing job that is been done just to meet targets
     
    8. Arrogance 
    Some employees don’t gel with the other co-workers is either due to their class or status or the car they drive. How you relate to your co-workers does tell a lot about your personality. People can assume you are arrogant without getting personal with you, how you interact with the rest of the employees means a lot to the work atmosphere. 

    One tactic you can use to overcome arrogant behavior is; before you give your opinion, take a deep breath, and listen to what the other person is saying. To avoid the inference made about your character that can badly affect performance. 


    9. Ineffective Communication Skills
    A work environment is a place people interact to some level that enables the flow of work. Ineffective communication can be very frustrating to all aspects of the organization's work structure.

    Morever, at the workplace, uninformed and disconnected  communication can greatly affect employees performance significantly. Without proper communication, it creates a breeding ground of mistrust and confusion. The implementation of effective communication tools, skills, and right communication approach are vital in getting the employees utmost competence and performance

    Negative Attitude 
    The energy you possess transcends beyond you, you have to determine which one you exude the most. Every work environment has different types of employees with different kinds of attitudes. The most common types of attitude are; positive, diplomatic, and negative. 

    An employee with a negative attitude is very difficult to work with, this attitude affects performance and creates negative vibes in the work environment. Bad behaviors irritate other employees even if they don’t talk about them, which can result in creating a disturbance in the relationship between work colleagues.
